NBA Game Summary - Detroit at Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Emeka Okafor scored 18 points to lead a balanced attack in Charlotte's 97-89 win over the Pistons, snapping Detroit's eight-game winning streak.
Sean May added 17 points and Matt Carroll totaled 16 for the Bobcats, who snapped a two-game skid overall and five-game slide against Detroit. Raymond Felton chipped in 15 points and Brevin Knight dished out 14 assists for Charlotte.
Although the Bobcats have only five wins this season, their other wins have come against mostly impressive competition, beating Cleveland, San Antonio, Boston and New Jersey.
"That just shows you when we put our minds to it, we can do it," Okafor said. "All of our wins have been quality wins. We've played the good teams pretty hard. I guess it just might be a matter of focus, knowing that we have to bring it or else we're going to get blown out."
Rasheed Wallace had 19 points, while Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton each scored 17 for Detroit, which hadn't lost since falling 100-99 at home to the Hornets on November 15.
"We didn't play with a purpose tonight," Detroit coach Flip Saunders said. "We knew coming into this game that this team always plays hard. Charlotte comes after you and gets on the boards. We jumped out and scored the first three buckets and thought this was going to be an easy one for us, but it wasn't."
The Pistons scored the first nine points of the game, but Charlotte responded with the next six and the Bobcats, trailed 25-23 after 12 minutes. The second quarter remained tight throughout with Detroit holding a 44-43 edge at the half.
The Bobcats went ahead with nine consecutive points in the third quarter, capped by a pair of Okafor free throws for a 56-48 margin with 9:05 remaining.
Eight in a row by the Pistons evened the score at 68, but Charlotte came right back with seven consecutive points and held a 77-70 cushion going into the fourth.
The Pistons couldn't make a serious run in the final quarter. Okafor's layup boosted the Bobcats to a 94-82 advantage with 1:50 left.
Charlotte's reserves outscored Detroit's, 46-14...Chauncey Billups had 14 points for Detroit...Derek Anderson scored 11 for Charlotte...The Pistons shot 40.7 percent from the field.
