Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Tracy McGrady netted 31 points on 11-for-21 shooting, as the Houston Rockets downed the Seattle SuperSonics, 103-96, at the Toyota Center.
Juwan Howard scored 18 points for the Rockets, who extended their winning streak to four games. Rafer Alston scored 13 points and Shane Battier had 12. Dikembe Mutombo added eight points and 12 boards.
Ray Allen scored 32 points for the SuperSonics, who have dropped four of their last five. Damien Wilkins scored 19 points and Chris Wilcox had 13. Johan Petro added 11 and six boards.
Houston enjoyed a slim 32-30 first-quarter lead, and added three points to that in the second for a 53-48 halftime advantage.
The Rockets added two more points to their lead in the third, and were up by 80-73 heading into the final stanza. Gradually building up a seven-point lead paid off, as both teams netted 23 in the fourth, for it to become the final margin.
This was the first meeting of the season between the clubs this season. Seattle has lost four straight after winning its last three at Houston...The Rockets shot 42-for-88 (47 percent) from the field, compared to 36-for-72 (50 percent) by Seattle, which got outrebounded 41-32...Both teams finished 7- for-21 (33 percent) from beyond the arc and committed eight turnovers.
