NBA Game Summary - Sacramento at Chicago

(Tuesday, February 14th)

Final Score: Sacramento 105, Chicago 101 (OT)

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Mike Bibby scored 31 points and Ron Artest recorded his first double-double in a Sacramento uniform, as the pair fueled the Kings to a 105-101 overtime victory over Chicago at the United Center.

Artest racked up 27 points and a season-best 14 rebounds for the resurgent Kings, who continued their recent dominance of the Bulls and earned their fifth win in six games overall. Sacramento has now defeated Chicago in 13 of the last 14 meetings between the clubs.

Kenny Thomas added 16 points and 13 rebounds while Brad Miller finished with 13 points, 11 boards and eight assists in the triumph.

Ben Gordon netted 30 points and Kirk Hinrich had 21 along with nine assists in the loss, Chicago's sixth in eight outings.

The Kings rallied late in the fourth quarter to tie the game and carried that momentum into the early portion of overtime.

After Thomas made two free throws to break the stalemate, Kevin Martin sank a clutch three-pointer a minute into the extra session for a 95-90 Sacramento lead.

The Kings remained on top the rest of the way, but not without a fight. Hinrich completed a three-point play with 1:12 left to bring the Bulls within 99-97, but Miller hit a jumper shortly afterward and Bibby drained an outside shot with 18 seconds to go to make it a six-point game.

Chicago closed the gap to 103-101 on Andres Nocioni's jumper with eight ticks on the clock. However, Martin made two foul shots to seal the win.

Sacramento trailed 90-85 with less than two minutes left in regulation, but scored five unanswered points to send the contest into additional time.

Miller was fouled by Nocioni upon making a layup and hit the subsequent free throw to cut the deficit to two with 1:27 remaining. After Hinrich missed on the other end, Artest scored in transition with just over a minute left to tie things at 90-90.

Both teams had a chance to move ahead in the closing seconds. Artest had a three-point try rejected by Nocioni and then missed his putback attempt. Following a Chicago time out, Hinrich let fly a 25-footer at the buzzer that was off the mark.

Chicago used an early 8-0 run to build a 15-7 advantage midway through the first quarter and led by many as nine points in the period. Gordon played a huge role towards gaining the lead, as the second-year guard poured in 14 points during the opening 12 minutes.

The Kings fought back to tie the game early in the second quarter and went ahead 36-35 after Bibby knocked down a three-pointer with four minutes remaining before the break. The shot started a 7-2 Sacramento spurt to close out the half which put the visitors up 40-37 at the break.

Sacramento held a slim 69-68 edge after three quarters and the game remained tight throughout the fourth.
