NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at Orlando

(Sunday, January 29th)

Final Score: Philadelphia 89, Orlando 81

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Chris Webber poured in 18 points and dished out a season-high eight assists as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Orlando Magic, 89-81, at the TD WaterHouse Centre.

John Salmons added 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field for the Sixers, who won for the second night in a row without star guard Allen Iverson, who missed his second straight game with a sprained left ankle.

Kevin Ollie started in place of Iverson and netted a season-high 12 points with five rebounds. Philadelphia has now won five of its last six games and avenged Wednesday's 119-115 overtime loss to Orlando.

"This was a well played game for us," said Philadelphia head coach Maurice Cheeks. "I think coming in here after losing to them in OT the other night, I thought our focus was there."

Steve Francis recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Magic, who have dropped their last two games.

The Magic were once again without guard Jameer Nelson, who missed his fifth straight game with a foot sprain.

Hedo Turkoglu chipped in 15 points with six rebounds in defeat.

"I think this was definitely our worst loss of the season," said Orlando head coach Brian Hill. "It's very bitter to me simply for one reason that we couldn't come into the game focused because the other team had their best player out."

With the game knotted at 75-75, Andre Iguodala hit a free throw, but missed his second attempt as Webber pulled down the rebound. Webber then hit a pull- up jumper with 2:45 remaining in the game for a 78-75 Sixers lead.

After Ollie sunk two from the charity stripe, Samuel Dalembert blocked Turkoglu's shot in the paint, leading the Sixers the other way where Webber hit a 15-foot jumper for a 82-75 with 1:48 to play in the game.

Two free throws by Francis pulled the Magic to 83-76 with 49 seconds to go. Orlando could not get any closer as Kyle Korver went 4-of-4 from the charity stripe down the stretch to seal it for the Sixers.

Philadelphia led 21-17 after the opening quarter shooting 58.8 percent from the floor.

The Magic outscored the Sixers 28-23 in the second stanza to take a 45-44 into the locker room. Francis led the way with 10 points and five assists.

Philadelphia used a 11-2 surge in the third quarter to take a 59-57 lead after Korver drained a three-pointer with 5:04 to go in the third. The Sixers took a 65-64 advantage into the final frame after outscoring Orlando 21-19 in the third quarter.
