NBA Game Summary - New Jersey at Seattle

(Saturday, January 28th)

Final Score: Seattle 113, New Jersey 104

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Ray Allen scored 35 points on 13-of-20 shooting to give the Seattle SuperSonics a 113-104 win over the New Jersey Nets at the Key Arena.

Luke Ridnour had 20 points and 13 assists and Robert Swift netted 14 and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Sonics, who have won three of their last four games.

Richard Jefferson had a season-high 36 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Vince Carter added 29 for the Nets, who will return home without a win on their four-game road trip. Nenad Krstic contributed 18 points and 11 boards in the loss.

"The way we are playing our scores are going to be higher because of the up tempo we play...It was a huge for us to get this win by stopping the team down the stretch," said Ridnour.

Swift's three-point play gave Seattle an 89-80 margin with 9:25 left in the game, however, New Jersey went on an 8-0 run to narrow the gap to one with seven minutes to play.

Carter's driving layup at the 5:10 mark pulled the Nets within 93-92, but that was as close as they would get. New Jersey could not stop Allen, who scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, and were outscored 20-12 in the final 4 1/2 minutes.

The Nets jumped out to an early 13-4 lead, capped by Jefferson's trey, but the Sonics shot 52.6 percent and finished the quarter with a 7-3 rally to narrow the gap to 27-24.

New Jersey led 32-31 with 9:13 remaining in the half, however, Seattle used an 8-2 run, including four points from Damien Wilkins, to take a 39-34 edge.

The Nets regained a 45-44 lead on Jefferson's jumper at the 3:05 mark, but the Sonics ran off a 10-2 spurt, highlighted by a pair of Ridnour buckets, to close the half with a 54-47 lead.

Seattle extended its lead to 62-52 on Allen's three-pointer early in the second half and Swift's layup with 5:52 left in the third gave the Sonics a 15-point advantage.

New Jersey cut the deficit to 78-72 courtesy of a 10-2 streak with Jefferson scoring six points. Seattle led 83-76 heading into the final frame.
