NBA Game Summary - New Jersey at LA Clippers

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Cuttino Mobley had 15 points, a career- high 13 rebounds and seven assists as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the New Jersey Nets, 90-77, at the Staples Center.
"I just try to do the things that will help the team," said Mobley. "We were able to control the tempo. It's good when you win by 15 or 20 points, we need more of that."
Elton Brand netted 19 points while Sam Cassell and Chris Kaman each scored 17 points for the Clippers, who have won three straight games and six of their last eight contests. Kaman also pulled down nine rebounds in the victory.
Jason Kidd paced the Nets with 19 points and Richard Jefferson added 15 in the loss, New Jersey's third in its last four attempts. Nenad Kristic contributed 12 points.
With the Clippers leading 16-14, Los Angeles closed the first quarter on an 11-2 run, featuring four points apiece from Mobley and Cassell. The Clippers connected on 13-of-18 shots from the field in the opening period and were led by Brand's 10 points.
In an ugly second quarter, each team scored 16 points and Los Angeles led 43-32 at the half. The Clippers shot 35.2 percent from the floor in the second quarter, while New Jersey connected on 33.3 percent of its shots in the period.
Leading 56-46 in the third quarter, the Clippers reeled off a 14-5 streak, highlighted by Brand's three-point play at the 5:08 mark. LA later took a 72-56 advantage heading into the final frame.
Kaman extended the Los Angeles lead to 80-58 as he scored the Clippers' first eight points of the fourth quarter.
New Jersey shot 38.2 percent from the floor for the game and were outrebounded 49-37, while Los Angeles connected on 48 percent of its shots. The Nets could not overcome their offensive struggles or Los Angeles' fast start to make the game close.
This is the third time in its last seven games New Jersey has not broken 80 points...Los Angeles is 15-7 at home...New Jersey has won four of the last six meetings between the teams, but have lost three of their last four at the Clippers...Los Angeles' James Singleton grabbed eight rebounds...Vince Carter scored three points on 1-of-9 shooting for the Nets.
