Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Pau Gasol had 30 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 107-87 pounding of the Minnesota Timberwolves at the FedEx Forum.
Eddie Jones chipped in 22 points, including 10 straight in the fourth stanza, and Mike Miller chipped in 18 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have won two of their last three games.
Kevin Garnett had 29 points and nine boards and Wally Szczerbiak added 15 points for the Timberwolves, who have dropped three straight and four of their last five games.
The game was close through much of the first quarter, but Memphis closed it out with a 15-6 run and had a 29-14 lead going into the second.
The Grizzlies continued to pull further away from the Timberwolves in the second quarter and took a 62-38 lead into the locker room.
The beginning of the third quarter was much like the previous 24 minutes with Memphis holding a commanding edge throughout much of the quarter. But, Minnesota closed out the quarter with an 11-2 run and Garnett's three- pointer at the buzzer made it a 82-65 game going into the final period.
Szczerbiak drained a bucket and Garnett hit a free throw to complete a three- point play and make it a 82-70 game with 10:57 remaining.
However, a little later Jones put in four straight baskets, two of which became three-point plays, to give the Grizzlies a 94-78 lead with 7:06 remaining.
Garnett nailed two free throws on Minnesota's next possession, but Chucky Atkins drained a trey on Memphis' next touch and it cruised the rest of the way.
Memphis travels to Detroit on Friday...Memphis has won four straight against the Timberwolves...The Grizzlies won the rebounding battle 42-34...Memphis hit 50.6 percent of its shots and went 17-of-18 from the charity stripe...The Timberwolves shot 43.2 percent from the floor.
