NBA Game Summary - Utah at LA Clippers

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Elton Brand scored 35 points, including eight in overtime, as Los Angeles beat Utah, 102-93, at the Staples Center.
Brand returned to action after two days off because of a right hip injury, and added 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots to his game totals.
"I definitely didn't want to let the team down," Brand said. "I was a little rusty early on, but after that I felt good."
Sam Cassell compiled 25 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Clippers, who have won three straight and four of their last six games.
Cuttino Mobley scored 17 points and Chris Kaman added 15 in the win.
Mehmet Okur notched 19 points while Gordan Giricek and Andrei Kirilenko added 17 apiece to pace the Jazz. Kirilenko posted a double-double with 12 rebounds to lead Utah, which suffered only its third loss in the past 11 games.
With the game tied at 89 apiece in overtime, the Clippers reeled off nine straight points, keyed by six points from Brand, to forge ahead 98-89 with 1:35 left in the game.
Utah never mounted a charge and suffered the nine-point setback.
"We couldn't do anything in overtime," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "They made their shots, and we just couldn't make any of ours."
Utah shot just 21-of-32 (66 percent) from the free-throw line, while LA went 36- of-41 (88 percent).
Nearing the end of the third quarter, Kirilenko nailed a three-pointer to narrow the deficit to six points and Los Angeles held a 72-64 lead after 36 minutes.
Milt Palacio, who had 14 points off the bench, then keyed a 12-2 Jazz run to open the fourth period and Okur later capped the spurt by converting two free throws at the eight-minute mark to give Utah a 76-74 lead.
The Clippers then failed to score a field goal for almost seven minutes, but hung around courtesy of free throws, and Mobley's driving layup at the one- minute mark of the fourth cut the deficit to 87-85.
Kirilenko then missed a shot and Brand hit a pair of free throws with 19 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 87 to send it into OT.
"Our guys played great in overtime along with at the end of regulation to get back into it," Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We made them miss in overtime and our execution in overtime was tremendous."
The Clippers jumped out to a 25-18 lead after the first quarter and held a 46-38 edge at the half.
The Clippers have still dropped 10 of the last 14 home meetings with Utah...Los Angeles lost the opening game of its current seven- game homestand before winning the next two, including a 98-72 blowout over Seattle...The Clippers have won three of the last four meetings.
