NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Toronto

(Monday, November 28th)

Final Score: Dallas 93, Toronto 91

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Jason Terry capped a 26-point night with a running jumper at the final buzzer which gave Dallas a 93-91 victory over Toronto at Air Canada Centre.

Dirk Nowitzki delivered a game-high 29 points, including eight during a 10-2 Mavericks run over the final 1:42, as Dallas rebounded from Saturday's 20- point home loss to Memphis that ended its seven-game win streak.

Terry made 11-of-18 field goal attempts on the night, while Devin Harris chipped in 16 points off the bench on 7-of-11 shooting for the Mavs.

Chris Bosh posted 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Raptors, who fell to 1-14 overall after suffering their fifth straight loss. Mike James had 22 points in defeat.

Toronto tied the contest at 91-91 on Matt Bonner's baseline jumper that was just inside the three-point line. After a Dallas timeout, Terry took the inbounds pass from Marquis Daniels and swished home a nine-footer over Bosh in the lane as time expired.

"Coach (Avery Johnson) called my name and I was able to get the ball in my hands," Terry said. "(The play is) definitely something I work on all summer."

The Raptors appeared to have the game in hand after reeling off nine straight points to go up by six with two minutes to play. James made a runner and a then a three-pointer to put the home team up 85-83 with 3:31 remaining. Jose Calderon later scored inside before Bosh sank two foul shots with 2:06 to go to make the score 89-83.

Nowitzki then drained back-to-back field goals, the last coming with 53 seconds showing, to pull Dallas even. He sent the Mavericks ahead with a turnaround baseline jumper with 18.2 seconds left, but Bonner hit his shot on the other end to tie it.

"Forget about their record, they have a tough team," said Johnson of the Raptors. "I hope the people here don't give up on them."

Toronto trailed 38-30 with just over five minutes left in the first half, but surged ahead with a 12-2 run fueled by five points each from Bosh and Bonner. Bonner's three-point play with 1:19 remaining before the break gave the Raptors a 42-40 lead, and James later snapped a 44-44 tie with a bucket in the final seconds of the half to send Toronto into the locker room with a two- point edge.

Dallas would outscore the Raptors 11-5 to start the second half and later went up 61-55 on a Nowitzki three-point play with 6:24 to go in the third quarter.

The Mavericks would take a 69-66 lead into a final period in which neither club was ahead by more than three points until Toronto's strong late run.

Dallas shot nearly 58 percent in the first quarter to build a 28-19 advantage at the period's end. Terry netted 11 points over the first nine minutes, including a pair of buckets during an 8-0 burst midway through the stanza that erased a one-point deficit. A driving layup and 1-of-2 free throws by Harris closed out the quarter and accounted for the nine-point bulge.
