NBA Game Summary - Boston at Cleveland

(Friday, March 24th)

Final Score: Cleveland 94, Boston 82

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - LeBron James scored 19 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter as Cleveland edged Boston, 94-82, at Quicken Loans Arena.

"I just wanted to try and be aggressive," said James. "I wanted to try and put Boston away. If you let them hang around, they have some dangerous weapons."

James added eight assists, seven rebounds and three blocks for the Cavaliers, who won for the eighth time in their last 11 games. Donyell Marshall came off the bench to score 14 points and grab six boards. Flip Murray tallied 13 points.

Paul Pierce once again carried the load for the Celtics, scoring 24 points, grabbing five boards and dishing out five assists. Delonte West recorded 14 points and seven assists. Wally Szczerbiak and Raef LaFrentz scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Holding on to a one point lead, 75-74, with 4:36 remaining in the game, Murray converted a driving a layup and Marshall drained a trey to push Cleveland's lead to six with 3:37 left.

After two Pierce free throws brought the Celtics back to within four, 81-77, James took over, dropping in a layup and then nailing a jumper to push the Cavaliers lead to eight, 85-77, with 1:44 left to play.

Szczerbiak then converted two free throws to cut the deficit down to six, but Marshall came back with another huge trey to make it a 88-79 game with 1:17 left.

After Eric Snow converted one of two free throws, West gave Boston some life by knocking down a three pointer with 55 seconds left to bring the Celtics within seven, 89-82, but the Cavaliers once again fed the ball to James, who scored on an impressive drive to the basket and then drained a shot from beyond the arc to send Cleveland home victorious.

"LeBron was phenomenal," said Boston head coach Doc Rivers. "He made big shots. We didn't obviously on our end. I thought we had ample opportunity to score and make things happen. I thought for whatever reason our spirit was broken in the third and fourth quarter."

Boston scored the first seven points of the game and held a five point advantage at the end of the first quarter, 21-16.

Cleveland returned the favor in the second quarter outscoring the Celtics by five to tie the game up at the break, 38-38.

The Celtics led by as many as nine in the third quarter, but Cleveland rolled off an 8-0 run midway through the period and trailed by one heading into the final frame, 59-58.

Cleveland shot 45.1 percent from the field and 50 percent from three point territory (8-of-16).

The Celtics shot just 37.2 percent, but offset that performance by shooting 55 percent from beyond the arc (11-of-20).
