NBA Game Summary - Orlando at Philadelphia

(Friday, March 24)

Final Score: Orlando 102, Philadelphia 86

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jameer Nelson scored 19 points and dished out seven assists as Orlando defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 102-86, at the Wachovia Center to snap a franchise-record 16-game road losing streak.

Dwight Howard posted a double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds for the Magic, who last posted a road victory on January 26 against this same Sixers club. Carlos Arroyo added 16 points off the bench in the win.

Chris Webber netted a game-high 23 points and gathered 15 boards for Philadelphia, which has dropped eight of its last 10 contests. Allen Iverson scored just 17 points on 4-of-19 shooting, but did have 10 assists.

"They did what they wanted to do out there," said Philadelphia head coach Maurice Cheeks. "The disappointing part is after tonight we have 14 games left, and to get outworked at this stage is very disappointing."

Philadelphia started the game with an 11-1 burst, capped by Iverson's three- ball, but the Magic took over from there.

Orlando responded immediately with an 11-0 surge to go ahead by a point, and continued to build its lead as the first half wore on.

Hidayet Turkoglu's free throw finished off a 7-2 Magic run to finish the first quarter, giving them a 25-19 edge. That lead was pushed to nine points, 50-41, by intermission.

"Coach (Brian Hill) got on us when we were down 11-1," Nelson said. "Then we're up by eight (points) and then the second unit came in and we were up 12, and we just kept feeding off of that. You have to outwork the opposing team regardless of who you're playing."

The Sixers started the third frame with a 12-3 run, finished off by a Kyle Korver trey, to knot the game at 53-53 with 7:43 remaining.

Orlando scored the next six points, however, and played front-runner the rest of the way. Tony Battie's slam about five minutes later upped the lead to 10, 69-59. At the end of three quarters, the Magic led 73-62.

Philly got no closer than nine points the rest of the way.
