NBA Game Summary - Denver at Milwaukee

(Saturday, January 14th)

Final Score: Denver 100, Milwaukee 93

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony poured in a game-high 38 points to lead the Denver Nuggets past the Milwaukee Bucks, 100-93, at the Bradley Center.

Earl Boykins chipped in 21 points off the bench for the Nuggets, who have won three of their last four games. Andre Miller added 18 points and dished out eight assists while grabbing eight rebounds.

Michael Redd scored a team-high 25 points for the Bucks, who have dropped five of their last seven games. Redd distributed six assists and had six rebounds. Bobby Simmons added 15 points in defeat.

The Nuggets led the entire way and never let the Bucks really make a game of it.

"I think we have been playing good basketball even when we haven't won," said Denver head coach George Karl. "This team has stayed positive and stayed energized and now maybe we are getting a little luckier and a little tougher."

Denver stormed out of the gates with a 10-2 surge led by Anthony netting six of the points. The Nuggets would take a 25-19 lead into the second quarter.

Denver continued to cruise in the second stanza and outscored the Bucks 27-16 in the period to take a 52-35 lead into halftime. Anthony had a solid first half with 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor. As a team, the Nuggets held a 57.5 field goal percentage after the first two quarters.

"The first half we just couldn't get much going," said Milwaukee head coach Terry Stotts. "Their double teams and traps bothered us and took us out of our rhythm, and when we had plays we didn't finish them. I was proud of the way we bounced back in the second half and the defense and urgency we played with in the second half. We just couldn't quite get over the hump."

The Bucks outscored Denver 30-20 in the third frame to make it a 72-65 game heading into the final quarter of action, but Denver would not allow them to get any closer.

With 2:20 left in the game, Boykins hit a running jump shot in the paint for a 93-82 Denver advantage late.

Anthony went 1-of-2 from the charity stripe with 20.7 seconds left to push the lead to 98-89.
