Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Marcus Camby had 21 points and pulled down 21 rebounds to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 99-83 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at Pepsi Center.
Carmelo Anthony netted 21 points and 10 rebounds and Earl Boykins put in 18 points for the Nuggets, who have won three straight games.
Pau Gasol led all scorers with 24 points and also pulled down 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who had a four-game winning streak stopped. Shane Battier chipped in with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Battier had 12 points in the first 12 minutes and his running jumper with 20 seconds left gave Memphis a 21-19 lead at the end of the quarter.
The Grizzlies started out the second quarter on a 7-0 run with Mike Miller scoring all the points.
After Miller drained a jump shot to make it 28-19, Denver called a timeout and responded with a 13-5 run to make it a one-point game after Anthony nailed a two-pointer, leaving the score 33-32 with 6:00 remaining.
Memphis later had a 47-40 lead after Battier tipped in a missed Eddie Jones layup with 2:27 left, but Denver finished the half with an 11-2 spurt and took a 51-49 lead into the half after Earl Watson hit a three-pointer with six seconds left.
The Nuggets started the second half strong and led by seven points after Camby tipped in a miss of his own layup with 3:49 to play in the third quarter.
"Man, (Camby) is playing on a mission, he was great tonight," said Denver head coach George Karl. "Offensively we were good and bad, but defensively we are getting better. Every game of the last five there have been steps to become a good basketball team. Our defense creates offense."
But, Memphis went on a mini 6-2 run and cut the deficit to 66-64 with after a Miller layup. However, Denver finished the quarter with a 7-2 run and were leading 73-66 going into the final 12 minutes.
Denver scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to take an 80-66 lead, but Memphis got the next six points to cut the Denver lead to eight with less than eight minutes to play.
