(Friday, February 10th)
Final Score: Boston 115, Portland 83
Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Paul Pierce poured in 35 points, dished out four assists and recorded six steals as Boston destroyed Portland, 115-83, at TD Banknorth Garden to end a six-game skid.
"The main thing is we kept our head up and we didn't get down," said Pierce. "We said, 'It's gonna end (the losing streak) but we've just got to stay together regardless of the injuries.' We just had to go out there and play and see what happens."
Wally Szczerbiak added 21 points for the Celtics, who won for the first time since a January 27th outing against Sacramento. Raef LaFrentz tallied 18 points and Orien Greene had 10 points in the win .
"It was just a great effort by everybody," said Boston coach Doc Rivers. "The defense at times was really good with rotations and I just thought the ball moved great. So I"m just happy with the win."
Zach Randolph paced the Blazers, who lost their third straight game, with 14 points and six boards. Jarrett Jack added 12 points off the bench while Travis Outlaw chipped in with 10 points in the loss.
"We dont have fire," said Portland coach Nate McMillan. "I don't know where our fire has gone. These last two games was basically like a repeat. Just the fire and motivation, inner motivation, is not there. We've got to think this is a time for someone to step up, other than the staff, out on the court and try and lead. It's an opportunity we desperately need and were searching for it."
