NBA Game Summary - Houston at Indiana

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Ron Artest scored 24 points and picked up three steals, as the Indiana Pacers used an explosive second half to defeat the Houston Rockets 85-74 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Stephen Jackson went 3-for-7 from behind the arc and poured in 17 points in all for the Pacers, who have won two straight.

Jermaine O'Neal posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the win, and helped his team outscore the Rockets in the paint by a 34-24 margin.

Yao Ming had 24 points, 13 boards and four blocked shots for Houston, which has dropped three in a row. The Rockets were without All-Star Tracy McGrady, who did not play because of a lingering back ailment.

Derek Anderson contributed 13 points off the bench and David Wesley finished with 12 points and four assists in defeat.

The Pacers opened the third quarter on a 9-3 run to take a 47-40 lead. Houston's Stromile Swift cut that advantage to four on a nine-foot jump shot with 29 seconds left, but David Harrison countered with a jumper with four ticks on the clock to make it 58-52 Indiana heading into the final frame.

It was all Pacers from there on out, as the home team outscored their opponent 19-4 to open the fourth and extend the lead to 21 points. Sarunas Jasikevicius scored five points in the surge and Artest poured in seven, including a running jumper that put Indiana up 77-56.

Ming and Wesley scored back-to-back buckets to cut into the lead, but Artest answered with an 18-foot jump shot and Austin Croshere followed with a slam dunk to put the game away.

Wesley hit two three pointers and netted eight first-quarter points to stake the Rockets to a 19-15 lead at period's end.

Artest responded with eight points of his own in the second quarter, however, and Scot Pollard made a layup in the waning moments to put Indiana on top 38-37 at halftime.

Game Notes

The road team had won four straight meetings in this series...The Pacers have won six of the last nine meetings with Houston...The Rockets are 2-4 on the road this season...The Pacers have won four in a row at Conseco Fieldhouse.
