NBA Game Summary - Denver at Dallas

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 35 points with seven rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks edged the Denver Nuggets, 83-80, at American Airlines Center.
Marquis Daniels added 17 points off the bench, while DeSagana Diop pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds for the Mavericks, who won their third straight game. Devin Harris chipped in eight points and eight assists in the win.
"I played a lot of minutes tonight and that always helps," said Diop on his career high. "It's a great feeling. I need to keep working hard and give a lot of effort."
Carmelo Anthony paced Denver with 24 points, while Andre Miller added 17 points and five assists for the Nuggets, who have yet to win a game on the road this season in four tries.
Marcus Camby scored 11 points with nine rebounds in the loss.
Down 68-54 with 2:22 left in the third, Dallas would go on a 19-4 run and take a 73-72 lead on a Nowitzki three-point basket with 6:10 left in the fourth. Nowitzki had 13 of Dallas' points during the spurt.
After a Miller bucket gave Denver the lead back, Dallas would retake the edge on Harris' layup with 5:34 remaining. Later, Nowitzki would put the Mavericks up 79-74 with 4:39 left to play, but Denver scored four straight to make it a one-point game.
Daniels' jumper made it an 81-78 Maverick advantage before Anthony made two free throws to again cut it to one with 2:46 left. Both teams would then go cold from the floor, setting up a dramatic finish.
With under six seconds left, Anthony controlled the ball and drove in for the go-ahead layup. However, his shot was blocked by Diop and Darrell Armstrong later hit two free throws to seal the win.
"That was a gutsy win for us," said Dallas head coach Avery Johnson. "I am really proud of those guys. What a huge block by DeSagana at the end of the game. This was a great win for us and our fans that stuck around and stuck with us."
The Nuggets had a huge lead early in the third as they ran off 15 straight points to open the frame for a 56-40 lead with 8:27 left. Denver later held a 19-point lead at 64-45 with 5:32 to go in the third before Dallas' comeback.
Denver held a 20-17 lead after the first quarter on Earl Boykins' dunk with seven seconds left in the frame and Anthony kept the Nuggets ahead going into halftime, 41-40, after his jumper as time expired.
Denver shot 38.6 percent from the floor. Dallas finished at 44.6 percent...Six of Diop's 16 rebounds were offensive and he had a career-high six blocks... Daniels' 17 points were a season-high...Nowitzki shot 13-of-25 from the floor, 3-of-4 from behind the arc, and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line...Eduardo Najera had 10 rebounds for Denver.
