Final Score: Boston 85, Miami 78

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Ryan Gomes scored 19 points as Boston toppled Miami, 85-78, in the season finale for both clubs.

Tony Allen scored 17 points off the bench for the Celtics, who halted a five- game losing streak to end the season. Brian Scalabrine tallied 10 points, while Raef LaFrentz scored just two points, but led Boston with 11 rebounds.

"We keep talking about the future and obviously you see all the talent, young talent but it's still potential," said Boston head coach Doc Rivers. "It's great to have potential but it's better to have it realized."

Paul Pierce and Delonte West did not play for the Celtics.

Dorell Wright scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Heat, who sat most of their starters after having already clinched the Southeast Division title and the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Antoine Walker scored 14 points, while Jason Kapono and Wayne Simien each added nine.

"[The Bulls] are all athletic and young and they're all free willing," said Gary Payton. "They're playing really loose. It's going to be a good challenge. We just can't let them come in and try to steal one in Miami. It's going to be a tough young team that is never going to quit playing."

Trailing by seven in the third quarter, Miami scored nine straight points and took a 64-62 lead with 2:57 left to play. The Celtics, however, held a one- point lead, 68-67, at the end of the third quarter and started the fourth on a 14-0 run to coast to victory.

Allen's three-point play ignited Boston in the final frame, while Orien Greene capped the scoring with two straight layups to give the Celtics a 82-67 lead with 6:10 left to play. The Heat didn't make their first basket until 3:12 was left in regulation and finished with just 11 points in the period.

Boston staked out to a 24-17 lead after 12 minutes, but the Heat rolled off an 8-0 run in the second quarter and the score was tied at the break, 46-46.

Boston shot just 36 percent from the field, but held Miami to just 32.4 percent.
