(Saturday, February 4th)

Final Score: Golden State 109, Minnesota 77

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Jason Richardson came back to score 23 points and grab seven rebounds as the Golden State Warriors destroyed the Minnesota Timberwolves, 109-77, at The Arena.

Richardson had missed the previous four games with a bad back.

"It feels great (to be back)," said Richardson. "You need these types of wins to get the team going. We've lost a couple of close games...We're going to try to finish up strong (before the All-Star break.)"

Troy Murphy had 20 points and eight rebounds and Mickael Pietrus added 17 points and six boards for the Warriors, who snapped a two-game slide. Michael Dunleavy netted 14 in the win.

Murphy scored six points while Richardson and Pietrus each tallied five to put the Warriors on top 29-24 after 12 minutes of play and extend the margin to 37-26 at the 9:47 mark of the second.

With the score 37-30, the Warriors pushed the lead to 56-37 courtesy of a 19-7 run to close the half, which included nine points from Murphy. The Timberwolves shot 6-of-25 in the second period and were outscored 27-13.

Minnesota tried to chip away in the third stanza, but could get no closer than 63-44. Golden State later increased its lead to 80-54 on Murphy's tip-in with almost three minutes left in the quarter and the Warriors led 85-59 heading into the final period.

Ike Diogu's fadeaway pushed Golden State's lead to 30, 91-61, and his free throws with almost five minutes to play gave the Warriors their biggest lead at 101-65. None of Golden State's starters played in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors shot 47.5 percent from the floor, including 27-of-30 from the charity stripe, while the Timberwolves connected on 37.6 percent of their shots. Golden State held a 47-39 rebounding edge and scored 44 points in the paint.
