NBA Game Summary - Chicago at Phoenix

(Saturday, February 4th)

Final Score: Phoenix 118, Chicago 101

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Shawn Marion had 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 118-101 win over the Chicago Bulls at U.S. Airways Center.

Steve Nash netted 21 points and dished out seven assists, while James Jones and Eddie House each scored 14 points for the Suns, who have won three straight and five of their last six games. Boris Diaw registered 11 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

Ben Gordon scored a career-high 39 points and also grabbed eight rebounds, while Luol Deng added 17 points for the Bulls, who have lost three consecutive contests.

"We came out and opened the game up on both ends of the floor and that helped us get the win tonight," said Marion. "It was kind of rough for us at the start. They were hitting some tough shots and you have to give them credit. We were knocking down shots and winning, but they were shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half."

Nash scored 12 first quarter points and the Suns shot 42 percent for the period to take a 27-25 lead after 12 minutes of play.

House's layup gave the Suns a 36-29 edge in the second quarter, but the Bulls countered with a 10-0 run capped by Gordon's trey with 6:52 left in the period to take a 39-36 lead . Gordon's floater at the buzzer narrowed the gap to 52-50 at the half.

Phoenix then began the third quarter with an 18-6 run, including five points from Raja Bell and four apiece from Nash and Marion, and extended its advantage to 70-56 at the 7:36 mark. The Suns outscored Chicago 38-20 in the stanza and led 90-70 heading into the final frame.

Chicago never mounted a run in the fourth quarter and got no closer than when it trailed 113-101 in the final minute.

Phoenix connected on 48 percent of its shots, while the Bulls shot 44 percent from the floor. The Suns won the rebounding battle 48-44 and tallied 20 fast break points.
