NBA Game Summary - Minnesota at Utah

Final Score: Utah 96, Minnesota 93

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Deron Williams tied a career-high with 24 points as Utah beat Minnesota, 96-93, at the Delta Center.

Andrei Kirilenko posted 15 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and tied a career-high with eight blocked shots for the Jazz, who won their second straight. Matt Harpring scored 15 points, while Carlos Boozer had 12. Milt Palacio added 11 points.

Kevin Garnett posted 26 points and 13 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who lost their second straight. Marko Jaric scored 20 points, while Rashad McCants had 16. Ricky Davis added 14 points.

Kirilenko netted a free throw with 53.9 seconds left to make the score 91-88 in favor of Utah. Garnett hit a jumper with 43.7 seconds to cut Minnesota's deficit to 91-90.

Boozer lofted a jump hook through the hoop with 22.5 seconds left to bolster Utah's lead back to three points, however, at 93-90. Davis missed a game-tying trey with about 12 seconds remaining, and Harpring made two free throws with 10.4 seconds left to give Utah a 95-90 lead.

On the ensuing possession, Davis drilled a three with 8.1 seconds left to cut Minnesota's deficit to 95-93, but Williams converted a free throw with 6.2 seconds on the clock for the final margin.

The teams were deadlocked at 24-24 after one quarter, and Minnesota attained just a one-point advantage, 50-49, heading into halftime. Utah clung to a 70-68 advantage heading into the final stanza.

The Jazz played the middle contest of a three-game homestand. Utah is 16-15 at the Delta Center this season. The Jazz are scheduled to host Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday in the finale of the current homestand.

Minnesota, meanwhile, opened a season-high six-game road trip. The Timberwolves have lost six of seven and 16 of their last 19 games away from home. They are 8-20 on the road in 2005-06.

Game Notes

This was the third meeting of the season between the Northwest Division rivals. The teams split the first two games, as both clubs picked up a win on the road...The Timberwolves had a two-game winning streak at Utah snapped, and have won three of their last five at Utah...Minnesota is scheduled to host the Jazz on April 7th at the Target Center in the fourth and final meeting of the campaign between the squads.
