Final Score: Detroit 103, New York 97

Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Richard Hamilton scored 28 points as Detroit downed New York, 103-97, at the Palace of Auburn Hills and set the franchise record for victories in a season with its 64th win, breaking the mark set by the 1988-89 squad.

In addition, the Pistons tied the franchise record for home wins with 37, also set by the 1988-89 team. Detroit won the Central Division and is the top seed for the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Tayshaun Prince scored 20 points for the Pistons, who have won three of four. Rasheed Wallace netted 10 points while Chauncey Billups added 11 assists.

Nate Robinson scored 23 points to pace the Knicks, who lost their fourth straight. Jamal Crawford and Jackie Butler scored 18 points apiece, and David Lee added 13.

New York outscored Detroit by 11 points in the fourth quarter, but ultimately failed to overcome a 22-point first-quarter deficit.

Lindsey Hunter scored a turnaround jumper with 1:17 left to put Detroit up by 10 points.

Lee responded with a slam with 41.3 seconds left and Butler scored a hook shot about 17 seconds later, but they were not enough.

Detroit opened the game on a 15-0 run capped by a Prince jumper with 9:26 left, and led 40-18 heading into the second quarter.

New York regrouped and outscored the Pistons by five in the second quarter to trail 60-43 at halftime.

Neither team gained any ground in the third quarter and Detroit still led by 17 points heading into the final stanza.

Game Notes

Knicks head coach Larry Brown, who was hospitalized in Cleveland on Thursday, did not coach against Milwaukee because of a stomach ailment and was not with the team. Assistant Herb Williams coached the team and could run the team for the rest of the season...The Pistons have won three of the four meetings between the squads this season. New York has lost eight straight at Detroit...Detroit is a league-best 37-3 at home this season. It will visit Milwaukee on Monday before returning home to closeout the regular season on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards. New York is a brutal 7-33 on the road this season. The Knicks will host Charlotte on Monday before ending the season on the road on Wednesday against the New Jersey Nets.
