NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at LA Clippers

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Elton Brand posted 30 points and nine rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers beat San Antonio 98-85 at the Staples Center.
Sam Cassell notched 15 points and 11 assists for the Clippers, who snapped a two-game skid. Chris Kaman scored 15 points, while Cuttino Mobley added 11 in the victory.
"Defensively, we really showed up tonight," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "I like the way we moved the ball, and I like the patience we showed. It wasn't like we had a fluke game. We didn't hit 10 threes, we did it solid. We were just about perfect in what we tried to do."
Tony Parker scored 20 points for the Spurs, who had a seven-game winning streak snapped. Tim Duncan scored 16 points, while Manu Ginobili had 15 in the losing effort.
The Spurs threatened with a 12-3 run down the fourth-quarter stretch capped by a pair of Parker free throws with 2:04 remaining, and cut their deficit to 92-83. LA outscored the Spurs 6-2 in the final two minutes, however, to hold on.
"They played good defense," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. "They did a good job on Tim. They made shots down the stretch when we made a run. They deserved to win."
San Antonio led 21-19 heading into the second quarter. The Clippers outscored the Spurs by one point in the second quarter to trail 43-42 at halftime.
Still down by one point, the Clippers closed the third quarter on a 15-4 run in the final five minutes capped by a Brand jumper with three seconds on the clock. The Clippers led 69-59 heading into the final stanza.
San Antonio played the middle contest of a three-game road trip. The Spurs are 21-10 as the visitor this season, and had a two-game road winning streak snapped.

Cassell dislocated his left pinky finger early in the second quarter, but returned afterward...This was the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On December 13th, Duncan ended with 27 points and 22 rebounds to lead the Spurs over the Clippers, 95-87, in overtime at San Antonio...The Clippers snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Spurs...The last time the Clippers had defeated the Spurs was December 1, 2003 at the Staples Center...Beno Udrih added 12 points in the loss.
