Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Raymond Felton scored 27 points and dished out eight assists to lead the Charlotte Bobcats to a 116-110 victory over the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena.
Melvin Ely pitched in 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor for Charlotte, which has won two of its last three games. The Bobcats also got 17 points from Matt Carroll, 15 points from Alan Anderson and 14 points from Primoz Brezec.
Joe Johnson exploded for 35 points and nine assists for Atlanta, which has now lost four consecutive games. Marvin Williams pitched in 22 points for the Hawks, while Tyronn Lue contributed 19 points in a reserve role. Josh Smith posted 17 points and 10 rebounds in defeat, and Zaza Pachulia rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points.
Atlanta scored eight unanswered points during a span of 1:28 early in the first quarter, as Williams and Pachulia each had four points apiece during the spurt. The Hawks rolled to a 33-23 lead after one quarter of play.
Atlanta stretched its lead to 40-27 early in the second quarter, but Charlotte finished the first half on a 28-13 run to grab a 55-53 lead at intermission.
Charlotte never trailed in the second half, and its largest advantage was 14 points at 89-75 in the final minute of the third quarter.
The Bobcats connected on 53.8 percent of their field goal attempts in the clash, including a 44.4 percent showing from behind the arc.
Atlanta shot 51.9 percent from the floor, but finished with a total of 20 turnovers.
Game Notes
Hawks forward Josh Childress was suspended for two games by the NBA on Friday following an incident with Chicago's Andres Nocioni in a game Wednesday night at Philips Arena. Childress is eligible to return Tuesday against Miami...Atlanta's Al Harrington missed the game with a bruised left hand...Charlotte is now 3-7 in its last ten road games.
