NBA Game Summary - Dallas at Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Shawn Marion had 29 points and Tim Thomas added 22 to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 117-104 win over the Dallas Mavericks at U.S. Airways Center.
Raja Bell tallied 21 points and Boris Diaw had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Suns, who used 16-of-24 shooting from beyond the arc to win their second straight contest. Eddie House registered 13 points and Steve Nash had just six points, but added 13 assists for playoff bound Phoenix, which has also won three of four.
Dirk Nowitzki had 36 points and 11 boards to lead the Mavs, who have dropped two straight and failed to gained ground on the Western Conference leading San Antonio Spurs. The Orlando Magic defeated the Spurs on Thursday night and the Mavs remain 1 1/2 games back of the Southwest Division leader.
After Dallas managed to cut a 21-point deficit to a six-point affair following a Nowitzki short turnaround jumper with five minutes to play, 100-94, Phoenix again took control.
The Suns scored 10 of the next 14 points capped by three-pointers by Bell and Thomas. Dallas never threatened over the final three minutes and Phoenix cruised to the finish.
Phoenix shot 54.2 percent from the field for the game.
Josh Howard and Jason Terry each had 18 points for Dallas, which has just two games remaining this season.
The Suns trailed only once in the game and that was when Josh Howard scored the first points of the game for Dallas. However, Tim Thomas and Shawn Marion hit consecutive three-pointers and the long-range rout was on.
The Mavs came back to tie the game at 10-10, but the Suns methodically built its lead over the final seven-plus minutes of the opening quarter and took a 36-25 advantage into the second.
Phoenix continued to command the game throughout the second quarter and carried a 60-45 cushion into the break.
In the third, Marion gave the Suns their largest lead at 21 points with a bucket for an 85-64 lead with 3 1/2 minutes left. That allowed the club to coast into the fourth with a 90-77 lead.
Dallas hit on 44 percent of its shots and hit just 4-of-16 from three...Darrell Armstrong had 12 points for the Mavs...Dallas ended a three- game road trip 1-2...These two teams split the four meetings this season.
