NBA Game Summary - Orlando at San Antonio

Final Score: Orlando 92, San Antonio 80

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Dwight Howard scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Orlando bested San Antonio, 92-80, at the AT&T Center.

Jameer Nelson scored 19 points, dished out eight assists and collected seven boards for the Magic, who have won seven in a row and 11 of their last 12 games. Hedo Turkoglu scored 15 points while Darko Milicic added 14 off the bench.

Tim Duncan scored 31 points, grabbed 13 boards and dished out six assists for the defending NBA champion Spurs, who failed to move farther ahead of Dallas for the top seed in the Western Conference. San Antonio leads the Mavericks by just 1 1/2 games. Dallas fell to Phoenix on Thursday, 117-104.

Michael Finley scored 16 off the bench for the Spurs and Tony Parker added 12.

Leading by two earlier in the third quarter, Tony Battie sandwiched a DeShawn Stevenson bucket with two field goals of his own as Orlando staked out to an eight-point lead, 60-52, with 8:51 left to play. The lead ballooned to 12, 74-62, behind a jumper from Keyon Dooling and a free throw from Howard with 3:18 remaining.

The Spurs then made their only serious run of the second half as Bruce Bowen nailed a trey to cap a brief 7-0 run to bring San Antonio within five, 74-69, with 52 seconds left. Milicic, though, scored twice before the third quarter ended to push the Magic lead back up to nine, 78-69, heading into the final quarter.

Orlando kept San Antonio at arm's length the final quarter, holding the Spurs to just 11 points. San Antonio did not get closer than eight.

The Spurs led by one after 12 minutes, 28-27, but Howard converted a three- point play with 14 seconds left before halftime and the Magic held a four point advantage at the break, 54-50.

Game Notes

Stevenson scored 10 points while Battie and Dooling each tallied six for Orlando...The Magic shot 49.4 percent from the field, while San Antonio shot 45.2 percent...The Spurs outrebounded Orlando 42-39.
