NBA Game Summary - Memphis at Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Eddie Jones scored 16 points as Memphis beat Charlotte, 96-88, at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
Chucky Atkins, Pau Gasol and Mike Miller scored 15 points for the Grizzlies, who have won five of six. Lorenzen Wright added 12 points and six rebounds.
Gerald Wallace scored 17 points and added nine boards for the Bobcats, who have lost two of three. Raymond Felton posted 14 points and 13 assists for his 15th straight game in double figures. Matt Carroll scored 14 points, while Primoz Brezec scored 13 and grabbed nine boards. Melvin Ely added 12 points.
Memphis still leads the Los Angles Clippers by 1/2 game for No. 5 in the Western Conference playoff race, after LA beat Portland, 97-93, later Wednesday.
Jones hit a jumper from the left wing at the shot-clock buzzer with 41.2 seconds left to put Memphis ahead 93-88. On the ensuing possession, Jones solidified the Grizzlies' control on the other end of the court by blocking Carroll's three-point attempt.
"I just continued to trail Matt Carroll," Jones said. "He's a very good shooter. I just happened to get my hand on the ball."
Gasol hit a free throw with 37.7 seconds left, and Miller converted a pair with 24.9 seconds left to seal the win.
The Grizzlies closed the first quarter on a 12-3 run capped by a Gasol hook shot with 1:05 remaining, and after Kevin Burleson hit a jumper in the final 20 seconds, Memphis led 26-22 heading into the second stanza.
Charlotte outscored Memphis by three in the second quarter to trail 47-46 at halftime.
Memphis outscored Charlotte in the third quarter by four again to lead 72-67 heading into the final stanza.
"They got the calls, we didn't," Wallace said. "That's all it came down to. Every time we went to the basket, they went to the free-throw line. Every time we went to the basket, the officials were at a bad angle. What can you do. You just suck it up, establish the name on your jersey and move on."
Memphis outscored Charlotte 30-13 at the free-throw line.
The playoff-bound Grizzlies played the opener of a brief two-game road trip. The Grizzlies are 17-22 on the road this season. They are scheduled to visit the Houston Rockets on Saturday at the Toyota Center.
The Bobcats are 15-24 as the host this season. They have split their last six game at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
Memphis is one of six teams never beaten by Charlotte...Charlotte guard Brevin Knight was a late scratch and did not play with a groin strain... This was the second and final meeting of the campaign between the squads. On March 26th, Gasol scored 33 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Memphis to a 102-95 win over Charlotte at the FedExForum...Memphis has won all four contests in this series and is 2-0 as the visitor against the Bobcats.
