NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at New Jersey

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Allen Iverson poured in 40 points and added 10 assists to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 116-96 victory over the New Jersey Nets at Continental Airlines Arena.
Chris Webber had 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Kyle Korver added 12 points for the Sixers, who have won three straight, but are still tied with Chicago for the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls defeated Atlanta and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker against the Sixers. Both teams have four games remaining.
Vince Carter had 21 points and six assists and Nenad Krstic contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Nets, who have dropped two straight and three of their last four. New Jersey has the Atlantic Division wrapped up and with four games to play trails Miami by four games for second in the East.
The Sixers had a dominating first quarter and thanks to an 18-5 burst took a 12-point lead, 33-21, into the second quarter. The team shot 60.9 percent in the opening 12 minutes.
Philadelphia continued to increase its advantage in the second quarter. The team closed out the half with a 9-2 run and thanks to that took a 67-46 lead into the locker room.
"When you have a first half like that nine times out of 10 you're gonna have good lead," said Iverson. "Guys are coming out with a sense of urgency the positive thing about that is that it's happening now."
Iverson led all scorers at the half with 22 points and also had seven assists. Carter led the Nets with 16 points.
Philadelphia led by 22 points in the third quarter after Iverson nailed a turnaround jumper to make it 77-55 with 8:57 left and eventually took a 90-73 lead into the final 12 minutes.
The Nets never got close in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia led by as many as 30 points and kept New Jersey from getting on a roll to secure the victory.
"I think this is a game were gonna try and forget about and prepare for Boston on Friday," said Carter.
The Nets travel to Boston for a game on Friday...Philadelphia plays in Miami on Friday...This was the most points the Nets gave up in a game this season...Carter has scored at least 20 points in 23 consecutive games...Philadelphia shot 50 percent from the field and New Jersey hit 43.8 percent of its shots...Andre Iguodala had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Philadelphia...Iverson has scored 40-plus points in 74 games over his career.
