NBA Game Summary - Atlanta at Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Trenton Hassell hit a jumper with 1.9 seconds remaining to lift the Minnesota Timberwolves to an 84-83 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
Minnesota won despite the absence of All-Star forward Kevin Garnett, who was held out of action because of tendinitis in his right knee. Garnett's league- leading streak of 351 consecutive starts came to an end.
Minnesota guard Ricky Davis also missed the game with a sprained groin. He and Garnett account for 41.2 points per game.
Rookie Rashad McCants poured in a career-high 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the floor to pace the Timberwolves, who also got 17 points from Mark Blount. Minnesota snapped a three-game skid.
Atlanta got 14 points apiece from Joe Johnson, Al Harrington and Josh Smith. Zaza Pachulia pitched in 13 points for the Hawks, who also got 11 points from Tyronn Lue. The Hawks had a two-game winning streak broken, but lost for the 13th time in 17 contests.
Minnesota held a 43-42 halftime edge in a game that featured 14 ties and 13 lead changes.
With 17 seconds remaining in the contest, Johnson gave Atlanta an 83-82 lead with a running jumper.
Marcus Banks had his layup attempt blocked by Smith on the ensuing Timberwolves' possession, but Hassell got the offensive rebound and hit the game-winning shot.
Lue attempted a desperation jumper at the buzzer, but the shot was blocked by Banks.
"It was a good team win and we'll take it any way we can get it," Banks said after the exciting finish.
Atlanta head coach Mike Woodson wasn't nearly as enthused.
"I thought tonight we were just so lethargic on both ends of the floor," commented Woodson, leader of the league's youngest team.
Atlanta shot just 1-of-13 from three-point range, overshadowing a 22-11 edge in points from the foul line...Garnett missed his first game since February 19, 2001...Minnesota guard Anthony Carter missed his third straight contest with a right foot injury.
