NBA Game Summary - Sacramento at Utah

(Monday, April 18th)

Final Score: Utah 92, Sacramento 82

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Matt Harpring had 24 points and a season-high 13 rebounds to lead the Utah Jazz over the Sacramento Kings, 92-82, at the Delta Center.

Mehmet Okur added 21 points and 12 boards for the lottery-bound Jazz, who ended a two-game slide and won for only the second time in six outings.

Mike Bibby had 26 points and six assists for the Kings, who will be the sixth seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Darius Songaila had 15 points and 11 boards for Sacramento, which has dropped two in a row after winning four straight and has just one game remaining in the regular season.

"We were down three at halftime and I thought we were luck to be down three," said Sacramento head coach Rick Adelman. "We didn't shoot the ball well. We didn't move the ball well. Maybe these last two games are going to be a lesson learned for the playoffs."

Trailing 81-71 five minutes into the fourth quarter, the Kings scored nine of the next 12 points to draw within 84-80 with two minutes left. Kenny Thomas' two free throws capped the burst.

However, Keith McLeod nailed a driving layup on the Jazz's next possession to start an 8-2 run that ended the game. McLeod had six points during the run, adding four free throws to his layup, as the Jazz ended a nine-game home losing streak to the Kings.

Leading 63-60 with three minutes left in the third quarter, the Jazz closed the frame on an 8-2 run to take a 71-62 advantage into the final 12 minutes. Okur and Kirk Snyder combined to score all eight points for the Jazz, who were up 45-42 at halftime and never relinquished the lead in the second half.

"I thought we played well," said Harpring. "We passed the ball. Especially the first half we looked good. The third quarter and down the stretch we also looked good."

Snyder ended with seven points. Gordan Giricek had 12 points for the Jazz.

"It was nice to be able to win for our fans," said Utah head coach Jerry Sloan. "They've stuck with us and supported us all year long despite the fact that things haven't gone well."

Corliss Williamson had 13 points and Thomas had 11 for the Kings, who shot just 1-of-13 from three-point land.

"We're a little disappointed that we didn't come out with the effort and intensity that we needed to get a win," said Williamson.
