NBA Game Summary - Seattle at Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Ray Allen scored 34 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Rashard Lewis added 28 as the Seattle SuperSonics eliminated Minnesota from playoff contention with a 109-94 victory over the Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Luke Ridnour contributed 10 points and 11 assists for the Northwest Division champion Sonics, who are third in the Western Conference.

"We ran the floor and shot the ball well," said Ridnour. "We've got to keep trying to do that and get ready for the playoffs."

Seattle clinched its first division title since 1998 on Friday by snapping a six-game losing streak with a 97-72 victory over New Orleans. The Sonics play on the road against Dallas and Houston to finish the regular season.

Latrell Sprewell scored 20 points for the Timberwolves, who had made the playoffs the previous eight seasons and reached the Western Conference finals last year. Kevin Garnett had 17 with eight boards in the loss.

The Sonics led throughout most of the game and took an 87-70 lead into the fourth quarter. The lead grew to 21 early in the final frame before Minnesota made a run.

Minnesota, trailing 91-70, used an 18-2 burst to cut the deficit to 93-88. The Timberwolves, though, would get no closer the rest of the way.

Seattle led by three after 12 minutes of action and built its advantage to 48-34 in the second quarter. The Timberwolves, though, roared back.

Eddie Griffin scored to spark a 10-0 run. Wally Szczerbiak's dunk brought Minnesota within 48-44. Seattle would, however, would not relinquish the lead.

Seattle shot 53 percent from the field (22-of-42) in the first half and led, 55-50, at the break. The Sonics were 6-of-11 from three-point range and made all five of their free throw attempts before the break.

Game Notes

The Timberwolves are 17-12 since Kevin McHale took over the head coaching duties...Minnesota finishes the season with a game at New Orleans and at home against San Antonio...Garnett was just 5-of-14 from the field...Seattle had lost 10 of its previous 12 at Minnesota.
