NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at Cleveland

(Friday, March 18th)

Final Score: Philadelphia 93, Cleveland 81

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Allen Iverson, playing with a chip fracture in his left thumb, scored 31 points with nine rebounds and five assists to lead Philadelphia to a 93-81 victory over Cleveland at Gund Arena.

Iverson, who suffered the injury on Tuesday against the Lakers, was in a soft cast until just before the game and played the first four minutes with his thumb bandaged. The NBA's leading scorer was 1-of-5 from the field before ripping the bandage off and finished 9-of-27.

Kyle Korver added 15 on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range for the Sixers, who have won three of their last four games.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Cleveland, which has lost eight of its last 11 games. LeBron James had 16 points, but was just 3-of-20 from the field.

The Sixers led by five after three quarters, but Cleveland scored the first six points of the fourth to take a 74-73 lead. The Cavs were ahead, 78-76, after a basket by Ilgauskas with 6:51 remaining, but they would not make another field goal the rest of the way and scored just three points.

Philadelphia scored eight of the game's next nine points to move ahead, 84-79, after a free throw by Rodney Rogers with four minutes remaining. A three- pointer by Rogers gave Philadelphia a 93-81 lead with 1:30 left to put the Sixers in control for good.

Philadelphia, which led by 13 at halftime, stretched its lead to 69-54 with 5:58 left in the third quarter after a free throw by Korver. The Cavs, though, closed strong. James' two free throws with 24 seconds left capped a 13-3 run to end the frame and Cleveland trailed by just five, 72-67, heading into the fourth quarter.

The lead changed hands several times during a closely play opening quarter and the Sixers had a 20-18 edge after 12 minutes.

Iverson hit from three-point range midway through the second quarter to extend the Sixers' lead to 38-27. Iverson's fast-break layup put Philadelphia up by 13 with just over four minutes to play in the first half.

Philadelphia, paced by Iverson's 19 points, took a 55-42 advantage into the locker room. The Sixers shot 50 percent from the field (20-of-40) in the first half. Iverson and Korver combined to hit 4-of-7 from beyond the arc in the half.
