NBA Game Summary - Utah at Indiana

(Wednesday, March 16th)

Final Score: Indiana 103, Utah 84

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Stephen Jackson poured in a game-high 28 points, Reggie Miller added 15 and Indiana routed struggling Utah, 103-84, at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Anthony Johnson added 12 while Dale Davis netted nine points with 12 rebounds for Indiana, which has won three of four and is still without injured forward Jermaine O'Neal.

O'Neal remains sidelined with a shoulder injury that could be worse than originally thought. The extent of his ailment is unknown, but it appears he could be out for the rest of the season. Indiana's doctors are waiting until the swelling goes down to re-evaluate the injury.

Mehmet Okur paced Utah with 16 points. Andrei Kirilenko chipped in 15 for the slumping Jazz, who have dropped seven straight, including three in a row on their current five-game road trip.

"It is hard," Kirilenko. "Tonight we tried to come out and play much better than we did the other night against Cleveland, but it just didn't seem to be there."

After Utah's Matt Harpring knotted the game up at 8-8 early on, Indiana reeled off 11 of the game's next 12 points to take a comfortable lead. Jackson's two free throws capped the run, staking the Pacers to a 19-9 lead, their biggest of the half, with just under four minutes left in the opening frame.

However, Indiana, which led 23-15 after one quarter, could not pull away in the second. Utah trimmed the deficit to six, 34-28, on Ben Handlogten's layup with 4:14 remaining in the first half. The Pacers would then carry a 44-37 lead as both teams headed into the locker room.

Kirilenko paced Utah with 10 points, while Johnson and Jackson each netted nine for the Pacers at the break.

Indiana put the game away in the third quarter. The Pacers opened the stanza with seven quick points to open up a 51-37 lead with 10:45 left in the period.

The home team's advantage grew to 16, 75-59, heading into the fourth and Utah never threatened in the fourth en rout to the 19-point drubbing.

"Tonight was a very big ball game for us," said Johnson. "We got it going in the first half. We put this one away early."
