NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Atlanta
(Saturday, March 12th)
Final Score: Golden State 105, Atlanta 92
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy both scored 22 points to lead Golden State to a 105-92 win over Atlanta at Philips Arena.
Baron Davis added 20 points and eight assists while Derek Fisher had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors, who concluded a season-high, eight-game road trip. Golden State ended 4-4 on the swing and put a halt to its two-game losing streak.
"We wanted to win this game, it's been a long road trip," said Richardson. "We just came out and played hard."
The Warriors went a blistering 18-of-33 from three-point range, including nine alone in the third quarter, and were one shy of an NBA record. Davis and Dunleavy both made six threes in the win.
Josh Childress had 18 points and 11 boards for the Hawks, who lost for the 14th time in 15 games. Atlanta came into the game on a high note as the club snapped a 13-game losing streak and a 23-game skid as the visitor with a four- point win Friday night in Toronto, but this game was never a contest.
Golden State led 28-26 after the first quarter and held a 42-38 edge in the second before blowing open the game.
Troy Murphy's basket started a 12-0 spurt that gave the Warriors a comfortable 54-38 lead. During the lengthy run, Richardson and Fisher both scored five points and Fisher's three-pointer with 1:18 left capped the run and made it a 16-point game. Golden State went into the locker room with a 54-40 edge.
The Warriors continued to pour it on in the third quarter as the lead reached 20 points on Davis' three-pointer with just under four minutes left. Golden State ballooned the margin to 27 points late in the frame and eventually carried a hefty 90-65 lead after 36 minutes.
Atlanta never seriously threatened in the fourth and did not get any closer than the final score.
