NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Indiana
(Friday, March 11th)
Final Score: Indiana 101, Golden State 83
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Stephen Jackson scored a game-high 22 points as the Indiana Pacers defeated the road-weary Golden State Warriors 101-83 at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Jackson, who came off the bench, went 7-of-16 from the floor and added five rebounds for Indiana, which has won three of its last four games.
"This was a real good win for us," said Indiana coach Rick Carlisle. "(Jackson) came right in the game and made two or three big shots, which helps your bench. He really juiced them up."
Reggie Miller netted 19 points, including 11 in the first quarter, while Jeff Foster registered his 14th double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Anthony Johnson contributed 10 points and a game-high seven assists in the victory.
In his first game at Conseco Fieldhouse since being re-acquired by the Pacers, Dale Davis tallied eight points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
"He's not going to dazzle you with numbers," Carlisle said of Davis, who joined Indiana on March 4. "But the rebounding is always going to be there and he has a real defensive presence."
Leading Golden State, which has gone 3-4 during an eight-game road trip, was Mike Dunleavy with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting to go along with seven boards.
Baron Davis delivered 14 points and Derek Fisher netted 12 in the loss.
Indiana paced the game early on, jumping out to a 19-11 advantage following a Miller three-pointer seven minutes into the first quarter, which ended with Indiana ahead, 30-20.
"This definitely wasn't the team tonight that we've had the last couple of weeks," said Golden State coach Mike Montgomery. "I just hope it doesn't happen again.
"We just came out with not much energy and Indiana really shot the ball well and got into a rhythm," Montgomery added. "We just didn't have much cooking."
The Pacers extended their lead to 43-22 less than five minutes into the second quarter after Jackson drained a three-pointer and added a layup on Indiana's ensuing possession.
During the first 7:43 of the second quarter, Indiana outscored the Warriors 24-8 en route to a 60-40 halftime advantage.
Miller led the way with 15 points, while Jackson added 14 for the Pacers, who shot 21-of-43 from the field (48.8 percent) and 14-of-17 from the free throw line, while limiting the Warriors to just 34.3 percent shooting.
Indiana continued to front run throughout the third quarter and finished the frame with a 25-point lead, 84-59.
