New York, NY (Sports Network) - Ben Gordon had 22 points and Kirk Hinrich chipped in 20 to lead the Chicago Bulls past the New York Knicks, 102-94, at Madison Square Garden. Adrian Griffin had a season-high 16 points for the Bulls, who have won two straight and 11 of their last 12.
With the win, Chicago moved two games up on the Washington Wizards for the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Wizards lost to Indiana on Friday. The Bulls are looking to lock up their first playoff berth since the 1997-98 season
Stephon Marbury led all scorers with 29 points for New York, which has dropped nine in a row and 10 of its last 12. The nine-game slide is the longest for the Knicks since 1985.
Trailing by as many as three in the fourth quarter of a back-and-forth contest, the Bulls started to pull away late.
After Jerome Williams gave the Knicks a 90-89 advantage with 2:21 left in the contest, Chicago scored nine of the next 11 points to take a six-point advantage.
The Bulls eventually pushed their lead to double-digits and rolled to the eight-point victory.
Chicago, which closed out a three-game road trip, improved to 19-19 in foreign buildings this season and has won eight of 11 and nine of its last 14 away from home.
New York held a 55-54 advantage at the half.
New York, which has two of its next three contests at home, fell to 21-17 at MSG and has lost five of their last seven at home...Chicago has won all three meetings between these teams this season. The Bulls have also won six of eight and nine of the last 12 meetings overall.
