San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Devin Brown finished with a game-high 22 points as San Antonio handled New Jersey, 90-74, at SBC Arena.
Brown finished two points shy of his season-high and ended the game 9-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range. Tim Duncan netted 19 and grabbed eight rebounds for the Spurs, who won their fifth consecutive contest. Robert Horry had 12 points off the bench and Tony Parker dished out a team-high six assists.
Nenad Krstic paced the Nets with 19 points. Jason Kidd added 14 points, but struggled from the field, going 5-of-15 as New Jersey suffered its third straight loss. Vince Carter ended with 13 points in the losing effort.
The Spurs jumped all over the Nets from the opening whistle, limiting New Jersey to 12 first-quarter points.
San Antonio led 24-12 after the opening quarter and added to its lead in the second stanza, claiming a 47-28 advantage at the break.
The Spurs stretched their lead to 56-36 in the third quarter, but the Nets responded with a 16-3 run to get within seven. Kidd and Jacque Vaughn each buried a trey during the surge.
New Jersey trailed by six moments later, but eventually went into the fourth quarter down 68-58.
San Antonio scored the first five points of the final frame as its lead ballooned to 15 after Horry's layup at the 10:30 mark.
The Nets were unable to recover from that point on.
San Antonio improved to 6-0 on Tuesday nights and 29-4 against New Jersey at home. The Spurs have won 20 of their last 21 home games...The Nets connected on just 26-of-81 (32 percent) on field goals and 3-of-14 from beyond the arc....San Antonio went 33-of-72 from the floor. Tony Massenburg was ejected in the fourth quarter after throwing an elbow at Nets forward/center Jason Collins.
