NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at Miami

(Monday, March 7th)

Final Score: Miami 108, Philadelphia 100

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Dwyane Wade collected 32 points, seven assists and five rebounds, as the Miami Heat defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 108-100, at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Shaquille O'Neal added 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting for Miami, which has won six in a row and 13 of its last 15 contests. Shandon Anderson netted 13 points and Udonis Haslem chipped in 12 points and 10 boards in the win.

"It is all about the way we play on both ends of the floor," said Wade. "It is not about our opponents. Everyone that we have played recently is fighting to get in the playoffs, and we are fighting to continue to get better."

Allen Iverson paced Philadelphia with 27 points and six assists. Samuel Dalembert finished with 21 points for the 76ers, who had a two-game winning streak halted.

The Heat used an early 14-4 spurt, keyed by Damon Jones' three-pointer, to take a 16-8 advantage.

Miami's lead reached 20-11, before Philadelphia went on a 12-5 spurt to pull within 25-23 with 2:04 left in the first quarter. Dalembert had eight points during the run.

The Heat led 31-27 after 12 minutes and were still in front by only four with 8:22 remaining in the second quarter. However, O'Neal's slam dunk ignited an 8-2 run that staked Miami to a 49-39 advantage.

The Heat continued to pull away and Wade's jumper with 3:27 left in the period gave Miami a 55-42 lead. The Heat eventually carried a 63-50 advantage into the locker room.

Wade ended the first half with 17 points, while Iverson led the 76ers in the opening 24 minutes with 15.

Miami then opened the third quarter with a 12-5 spurt, highlighted by eight points from O'Neal, to increase its advantage to 75-55. Philadelphia was able to cut the deficit to 79-66, but O'Neal scored the next five points to push the margin back to 18.

Another dunk by O'Neal with just over two minutes remaining in the period made it 90-69. The Heat led 91-71 after 36 minutes and were not seriously threatened in the fourth quarter. A late surge by the 76ers made the final score respectable.

"We cannot win if we play defense like that," said Iverson. "No way, no way we win this game with defense like that."
