NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at Charlotte

(Tuesday, April 5th)

Final Score: LA Clippers 104, Charlotte 102

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Shaun Livingston ended with 17 points, nine assists and eight rebounds and scored the game-winning layup with one second left to help the Los Angeles Clippers edge the Charlotte Bobcats, 104-102, at Charlotte Arena.

Corey Maggette scored a game-high 34 points and Elton Brand added 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Clippers. Maggette hit 15-of-16 foul shots, including 9-of-10 in the fourth quarter for LA, which have won back-to-back contests on the heels of a four-game losing streak.

"We just continue to play hard," said Maggette. "It was a great team effort."

Brevin Knight ended with 21 points and 13 assists for the Bobcats, who have dropped five straight and 16 of their last 19 contests. Gerald Wallace added 19 points, Emeka Okafor posted 17 points and 10 rebounds and Primoz Brezec recorded 12 points and nine boards.

The score was close from the opening seconds of the game and wouldn't be decided until the final moments.

The Bobcats went ahead 94-91 on a pair of foul shots by Wallace with 2:18 remaining, but the Clippers took control with six straight points. Maggette and Brand made buckets to start the run and Marko Jaric's jumper made it 97-94 with 58 seconds left.

The Clippers made 5-of-8 foul shots in the final minute of the game, but Charlotte was able to knot the score on Knight's three-pointer with 7.5 seconds left. However, LA pushed the ball down court and Livingston made the final bucket of the game. Rick Brunson drove to the hoop and drew Okafor towards him before dishing off to Livingston for the basket.

"It was an improvised play," said Livingston.

The first quarter was tight throughout and Charlotte would hold a 28-22 advantage at the end of the period. Matt Carroll hit a jumper to start off the second and give the Bobcats a 30-22 edge, but the Clippers went on a 13-5 run to even the score at 35. The score would be tight for the remainder of the half and LA took a 54-52 lead into the locker room.

Maggette led all scorers with 17 points at the break and Wallace notched 11 to pace the Bobcats.

Neither team could pull away in the third quarter and Charlotte held a 78-74 edge after 36 minutes.
