Final Score: Minnesota 103, Milwaukee 97

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Wally Szczerbiak netted a game-high 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Minnesota to a 103-97 win over Milwaukee at the Target Center.

Kevin Garnett poured in 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who won for only the second time in the last five games.

Troy Hudson had 13 points and Fred Hoiberg scored 11 for Minnesota, which received a combined 53 points, 23 rebounds and 18 assists from its bench.

"That's what its about sometimes. The bench has to step up," said Timberwolves guard Anthony Carter, who came off the bench to score eight points, hand out a season-high 13 assists, grab five rebounds and block four shots.

Michael Redd had 24 points and seven boards while Maurice Williams chipped in 21 points and seven assists for the Bucks, who have dropped three of their last four contests.

Minnesota trailed by seven after three quarters, but began the final period with a 13-5 run to grab a one-point lead. Garnett scored five points during the run and his short jumper with 6:06 left in the game capped the burst and made it 86-85.

With the game tied at 90-90 moments later, the Timberwolves responded with a Hoiberg three-pointer and a Garnett basket to push the edge to 95-90 with around three minutes remaining.

The Bucks did not get any closer than four points the rest of the game.

"I thought everybody did a good job of playing defense and scoring at the end of the game," said Carter.

Milwaukee jumped out to a 30-19 lead after one period, but the Timberwolves cut the deficit in the second quarter and went into the locker room down five points at 55-50.

In the third, the Bucks led 65-58 early on before using a 9-0 surge to pull ahead by 16 points. Joe Smith scored three points during the flurry while Desmond Mason capped the burst with a jumper to make it 74-58 with just over five minutes remaining in the quarter.

Minnesota, though, came back strong to end the period and pulled within 80-73 after 36 minutes.
