NBA Game Summary - Detroit at Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ Sports Network) - Amare Stoudemire posted 26 points and 10 rebounds and Steve Nash added 16 points and 14 assists in his return to the lineup, as the Phoenix Suns rallied to defeat the Detroit Pistons, 100-97, at America West Arena.
Quentin Richardson netted 20 points and Shawn Marion added 13 points and 11 boards for the Suns, who rebounded from Saturday's overtime loss to Boston and won for the fifth time in seven games.
Nash missed the last three contests with a sore hamstring and hadn't played since the All-Star Game. He was excellent in the fourth quarter in this one, scoring nine of his points in the final 12 minutes.
Rasheed Wallace finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Pistons, who had their winning streak halted at eight games. Chauncey Billups registered 17 points in the loss and Richard Hamilton added 16 points and nine assists.
Detroit held a 76-66 cushion after three quarters, but the final period belonged to the Suns. Phoenix tallied the first eight points of the fourth quarter to slice the lead to 76-74 and the score would be close the rest of the way.
The Suns held a 95-90 lead after Stoudemire's short jumper with 1:58 remaining, but back-to-back layups by Tayshaun Prince and Billups would slice the deficit to 95-94 with 1:20 left. However, Nash answered with a three- pointer to make it a four-point game with 1:06 left.
Detroit fouled after a Hamilton miss and Nash hit both shots to make it 100-94 with 37 seconds left. Wallace hit a three-pointer seven seconds later to cut the deficit to three points and Detroit would get a final shot to tie the game after Marion missed a trey. The Pistons inbounded the ball with just over three seconds left, but Billups missed the three-pointer as the buzzer sounded.
The biggest lead of the first quarter belonged to Phoenix after Richardson drilled a three-pointer to make it 21-15 with 4:01 remaining. The Suns would hold a slim 24-22 edge at the end of the opening quarter.
The Suns scored the first bucket of the second quarter, but Detroit responded with the next 12 points to grab a 34-26 edge with 8:25 remaining. However, Phoenix used a 12-2 run of its own to take a 38-36 lead. The rest of the half would be tight, but it was the Suns that would carry a 50-47 advantage into the locker room.
Richardson led all scorers with 17 points at the break, while Wallace had 13 to pace Detroit.
The Pistons scored the first eight points of the third quarter to grab a 55-50 edge. Detroit would push that cushion even further in the period, as it led, 74-62, after an Antonio McDyess bucket with 3:01 left. The Pistons were on top, 76-66, after 36 minutes of action.
The Suns went 11-of-20 from three-point range, while Detroit made just 4-of-17 from beyond the arc...Phoenix is 13-1 against Eastern Conference opponents at home this season...The Suns have won 13 of their last 17 games...The Pistons dropped to 30-3 when leading after three quarters...The Suns ended a three- game losing streak to the Pistons...Prince ended with 15 points for Detroit, while McDyess chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds.
