Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Pau Gasol finished with 20 points and Shane Battier added 18 as Memphis pulled away from Milwaukee, 93-82, at the Bradley Center.
Mike Miller finished with 14 points and buried a crucial three-pointer late in the contest, halting the Grizzlies three-game skid. Bonzi Wells had 13 points off the bench for Memphis, which is tied with Denver for seventh place in the Western Conference.
Desmond Mason led all scorers with 24 points for the Bucks, who lost for the eighth straight time. Michael Redd netted 17 points, while Joe Smith pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds in the losing effort.
In what was a close contest throughout, Memphis garnered a 70-66 lead in the opening moments of the fourth quarter after Wells knocked down a pair from the charity stripe.
Mason scored the next five points though, staking Milwaukee to a 71-70 lead with 10 minutes to play.
Both clubs continued to trade baskets over the next four plus minutes but with the score tied at 76-76, Earl Watson and Gasol scored eight straight points for Memphis, giving the Grizzlies an 84-76 lead they would never relinquish.
After Smith and Mason each knocked down a free throw to make it an 84-78 contest, Miller sealed the win for Memphis on his three-pointer with 1:48 left.
The Grizzlies led 24-20 after the first quarter and carried a 52-50 edge into the break. The Grizzlies also led after three frames, 65-64.
Memphis finished the night 23-of-26 from the free throw line, while the Bucks struggled going 31-of-44...The Grizzlies finished 33-of-72 (46 percent) from the floor...Milwaukee outrebounded Memphis 44-38.
