NBA Game Summary - Sacramento at Minnesota

(Sunday, January 30th)

Final Score: Sacramento 94, Minnesota 84

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Brad Miller scored 27 points with 15 rebounds to lead the Sacramento Kings to a 94-84 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Cuttino Mobley added 23 and Mike Bibby had 21 points and eight assists for the Kings, who have won nine of their last 11 games. Sacramento played without Peja Stojakovic (back) and Chris Webber (knee).

"Whenever we have people down, people step up," said Bibby.

Kevin Garnett led the Timberwolves with 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Wally Szczerbiak scored 17 points for Minnesota, which had its five- game winning streak come to an end.

"(It's) very disappointing, knowing they didn't have a lot of their guys playing tonight," Garnett said. "(It was) a situation we could've taken advantage of, but we didn't."

Sacramento trailed, 45-39, at halftime, but used a big third quarter to take control of the contest. Miller scored to spark a 17-4 run to open the second half and the Kings would outscore Minnesota, 31-17, in the third frame. A jumper by Bibby capped the run to give the Kings a 56-49 advantage and the quarter would end with Sacramento in front, 70-62.

"At the half we knew we had to come out and make the first spurt of the second half if we were going to have a chance," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We did a great job of getting back into the game, and came away with a great win for our team."

Bibby extended the Kings' lead to 80-66 with five straight points early in the fourth quarter. Minnesota would get only as close as nine in the final quarter and the Kings coasted to the 10-point win.

With the score tied early, Miller got free underneath for an easy basket to cap an eight-point run that put Sacramento ahead, 16-8.

Latrell Sprewell answered with a three-pointer to spark a 9-2 run that cut the Kings' lead to 18-17 and the quarter would end with the game tied at 20-20.

The Timberwolves, who shot 43 percent from the field in the opening half, managed to open a six-point lead by halftime.

Sacramento made just 6-of-12 shots from the free throw line in the first half and were 1-of-5 from beyond the arc in the opening half.
