NBA Game Summary - New Orleans at San Antonio

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker scored 23 points and dished out 10 assists to lead the San Antonio Spurs to their 15th straight home-win with a 93-83 victory over the hapless New Orleans Hornets at the SBC Center. Manu Ginobili added 17 points for the Spurs, who won their second straight overall and sixth game in seven tries.

The Spurs, whose last loss at home occurred on December 8th against the Seattle SuperSonics, improved to an unbelievable 23-1 as the host this season.

Dan Dickau had 16 points for the Hornets, who dropped their fifth straight and 20th game in their last 21 on the road. New Orleans is now a dismal 2-22 away from home this season.

Leading by four after three quarters, San Antonio started the final stanza with an 8-0 run and built an 81-69 advantage on Bruce Bowen's jumper.

New Orleans went nearly six minutes of the fourth quarter without a field goal, but managed to get the deficit as close as six, before San Antonio went back up by double-digits late.

"The defense got us through," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.

New Orleans managed just five field goals in the final period and never challenged down the stretch.

Tim Duncan contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds in the win, as the Spurs had six players score in double-figures.

"The Hornets played really tough tonight," said Duncan. "Byron Scott had them playing hard and they never gave up the entire game."

San Antonio came out strong and opened the game by scoring the first 10 points. New Orleans slowly chipped away, but still trailed 33-21 after the first 12 minutes.

The Hornets got back into the game in the second quarter, as they outscored the Spurs 28-19 in the stanza and trailed by three, 52-49, heading into the locker room.

San Antonio improved upon its three-point lead at the break and outscored New Orleans 21-20 in the third to take a four-point lead into the final 12 minutes.

Game Notes

Robert Horry made his first start of the season for the Spurs and netted 11 points...San Antonio guard Beno Udrih missed the game with a shoulder injury...Lee Nailon and P.J. Brown each had 12 points in the losing effort...Overall, San Antonio has won five of six and seven of the last nine meetings in this series. The Hornets have also lost four of their last six in San Antonio.
