NBA Game Summary - Sacramento at Houston
(Friday, January 28th)
Final Score: Sacramento 117, Houston 111 (OT)
Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Chris Webber's three-pointer at the end of regulation forced overtime and Cuttino Mobley's trey in the extra session gave Sacramento the lead for good, as the Kings defeated the Houston Rockets, 117-111, at the Toyota Center.
Webber ended with 30 points, nine rebounds and six assists, adding a bucket in OT that extended the cushion to three points. Mike Bibby added 28 points and 14 assists for the Kings, who rebounded from a 90-80 loss to the San Antonio on Thursday night.
Mobley had 24 points against one of his former clubs, as Sacramento has captured eight of 10.
Tracy McGrady had 30 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds for the Rockets, who had a four-game win streak halted.
Scott Padgett hit his first eight shots from the floor, including his first six from three, on his way to a 22-point night. His first miss came with 2:39 left in overtime.
"I'm going to be honest with you," said Padgett. "Tracy's greatness was the big reason because of it. If I'm on the other team, I would rather have me shoot it than Tracy."
Down 89-81 in the fourth quarter, the Rockets went on an 11-3 run to tie the contest at 92-92. Padgett began the burst with consecutive three-pointers and Jon Barry capped it with a trey at the 4:37 mark.
The game remained close the rest of the way. Padgett gave the Rockets a 103-100 edge with 44 second left when he drained a three.
However, after each club came up empty, the Kings sent it into overtime when Webber hit a three-pointer with 1.3 seconds left. Coming out of a timeout with 4.7 seconds left, Bibby inbounded to Webber, who faked a pass back to Bibby, before turning and hitting the game-tying shot with just over a second on the clock.
"I went straight up for the shot," Webber said. "It felt good."
McGrady had a desperation three miss and the game headed to OT.
In overtime, Padgett and Mobley exchanged three-pointers to start things off. McGrady then gave the Rockets their last lead of the night, 108-106, with one minute elapsed.
Mobley, however, drained a trey with 2:58 on the clock to give Sacramento the advantage. Webber followed with a bucket 1 1/2 minutes later for a three-point cushion. After Bibby hit a jumper to get the lead to five points, the comeback for the Rockets fell out of reach.
