NBA Game Summary - New Jersey at Golden State

(Wednesday, January 26th)

Final Score: New Jersey 113, Golden State 99

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Brian Scalabrine had a career-high 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading New Jersey to an easy 113-99 win over Golden State at The Arena.

Vince Carter and Jason Kidd had 17 points apiece for the Nets, who snapped a two-game skid and won for the fourth time in six tries. Rodney Buford tallied 20 points in the win.

"It was just one of those efforts where everybody did something out there," Scalabrine explained. "It was big-time to bounce back like we did after last night's performance against Sacramento."

Jason Richardson poured in a game-high 31 points and Troy Murphy added 21 points and 10 rebounds for Golden State, which lost its third straight contest. Mike Dunleavy finished with 13 points in the loss.

"Teams come in here and they think they have an easy win," Richardson stated. "We have guys down and no one is stepping up. It's frustrating because we are a good team but we all have to play hard every night."

The Nets jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter and didn't look back. Efficient shooting from three-point range helped them claim a 28-14 lead after the first 12 minutes. As a team, they shot 66 percent from beyond the arc.

Golden State was unable to gain any ground in the second, despite 11 points from Richardson, and it went into the locker room trailing 55-41.

Richardson scored seven quick points in the third, including a three-pointer at the 7:50 mark, to cut the Nets lead to 60-54. But that was as close as Golden State would get the rest of the way.

New Jersey quickly pushed its lead back to 10 when Buford connected on a three-pointer and Scalabrine hit a free-throw after he was fouled during Buford's attempt.

Richardson scored 17 points in the quarter and nailed a trey just before the frame ended as the Warriors trailed, 83-74, going into the fourth.

Billy Thomas' six straight points for the Nets nullified any comeback by Golden State, as they gave New Jersey a 92-77 advantage with 8:24 to go.
