NBA Game Summary - Dallas at LA Clippers

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Elton Brand posted 23 points and 12 rebounds, as the Los Angeles Clippers pounded the Dallas Mavericks, 97-87, at the Staples Center.
Bobby Simmons recorded 21 points for the Clippers, who snapped a five-game losing streak to pick up their first win since posting a double overtime victory over the Miami Heat on January 14.
Chris Kaman added 13 points and 12 rebounds in the victory, while Rick Brunson and Quinton Ross netted 12 points apiece. Brunson also notched nine assists and six rebounds for the Clippers.
"We didn't give up too many easy baskets," coach Mike Dunleavy said. "I felt good about the way we played."
Dirk Nowitzki posted 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks, who had a five-game winning streak halted and lost for just the third time in 13 games.
Jerry Stackhouse added 18 points in the loss and Erick Dampier registered 13 points and a game-high 14 boards.
The Mavericks biggest lead of the contest came in the first quarter after Stackhouse's layup handed Dallas a 15-9 edge with 5:33 remaining. However, the Clippers would charge back and the score would be tied at 23-23 after one period of play.
The second quarter belonged to the Clippers, as they outscored Dallas, 30-15, in the period. LA held a 40-34 advantage with about four and a half minutes left in the opening half and extended that cushion significantly by ending the period on a 13-4 burst. Mikki Moore netted six points in the run, including a pair of free throws with two seconds left to close out the first-half scoring.
Dallas would get the score down to single digits on a few occasions in the third quarter with the latest occurrence coming after Dampier's layup made it 68-59 with 1:06 left in the third. However, Brunson would hit a three-pointer with 41 seconds remaining to make it a 71-59 contest heading into the fourth quarter.
The Mavs would never get closer than 10 points in the fourth quarter, as the Clippers coasted to the win.
Brand registered his seventh straight double-double...Every starter on both teams scored in double figures...The Clippers halted a three-game losing streak to Dallas...Michael Finley posted 11 points for Dallas, while Jason Terry contributed 10 points and eight assists.
