NBA Game Summary - Minnesota at Portland

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Fred Hoiberg had 13 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, as the Minnesota Timberwolves hung on for a 92-83 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.
Wally Szczerbiak led Minnesota with 18 points, while Kevin Garnett added 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. The Timberwolves have won two straight after losing five of seven.
Damon Stoudamire had 23 points to lead the Blazers, who have lost six in a row overall and five of six at home. Ruben Patterson added 19 points for Portland, which is just 3-13 since December 20.
Darius Miles, who was activated off the injured list earlier Saturday, scored with 3:10 left in the fourth quarter to pull the Blazers within three at 78-75.
But Minnesota answered with a 10-4 run to go up 88-79 with 40 seconds left. Hoiberg had five points during the spurt, which took the suspense out of the final result.
Portland led 26-25 with 8:20 left in the second quarter on a Travis Outlaw hoop. But a Troy Hudson basket punctuated a 16-3 run that gave the Timberwolves a 41-29 lead 2:40 before the intermission. Minnesota eventually took a 10-point advantage into halftime at 43-33.
An Anthony Carter basket with 9:50 left in the third quarter pushed the T- Wolves' advantage to 51-36. But Stoudamire scored eight points during a 12-0 Portland run that pulled the Blazers within three points with 6:10 left in the third. Minnesota eventually took a 62-59 edge into the final 12 minutes.
Garnett was the lone starter in double figures for the Timberwolves...Portland's James Thomas left in the second quarter with a muscle strain in his rib cage...Sprewell played 22 minutes and shot 2- for-7...The Blazers were again without leading scorer Zach Randolph, who missed his fifth straight game with a strained knee...Minnesota point guard Sam Cassell missed his nine consecutive game because of a strained right hamstring. It is unknown when Cassell will return to the court...Minnesota has won all three meetings between these teams this season, and has taken 11 of the last 17 contests in the set.
