NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at New Jersey

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Vince Carter scored 33 points, while Jason Kidd added 17 with 10 assists to go along with eight boards as New Jersey defeated Milwaukee, 96-90, at Continental Airlines Arena.
Rodney Buford tallied 17 points and Nenad Krstic chipped in 16 for the Nets, who have won two straight. New Jersey shot 53 percent from the floor (39- of-74) in the win.
"I know I had to bring it tonight," said Carter, who ended 14-of-24 shooting from the floor. "We just kept the pressure on them. I think we defended well."
Michael Redd paced the Bucks with 30 points, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Desmond Mason added 17 points for Milwaukee, which has dropped five of six. The Bucks turned the ball over 14 times in the loss.
"Turnovers hurt us tonight," said Redd. "We were very careless with the ball."
New Jersey held a 31-27 lead after 12 minutes of action. The Nets then looked for some breathing room midway through the second quarter. Carter's jumper gave the home team a 41-34 edge with under six minutes left in the frame. The margin would remain at seven, 54-47, as both teams headed into the locker room.
Carter paced all players with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Mike James netted 10 points to lead the Bucks at the break. New Jersey shot a sizzling 60 percent (24-of-40) from the floor, while the Bucks were just 17-of-36 (47 percent) during the first 24 minutes.
"Our team gave a very good effort," said New Jersey head coach Lawrence Frank. "We really had contributions from everyone."
The Bucks, though, took the lead courtesy of a 19-9 burst to open the third. Joe Smith's short jumper in the lane capped the spurt, staking the Bucks to a 66-63 lead at the 4:00 mark of the quarter. Redd accounted for 13 points during the spurt.
However, New Jersey closed out the stanza on a 10-2 run, ending on Buford's jumper, as the home team took a 73-68 advantage into the fourth.
The Nets' lead would grow to 10, 89-79, on Kidd's trey from the top of the arc with under five minutes left in the contest.
Milwaukee stayed close, trimming the deficit to 93-88 on Redd's bucket in the lane with 2:15 to go. The Bucks never threatened from that point on en route to the tough six-point loss.
Milwaukee fell to 8-17 when it scores under 100 points this season...Redd has now scored in double-digits in 15 straight contests for the Bucks...Milwaukee ended its brief three-game road trip with a 1-2 mark, falling to 4-16 on the road this season...Carter's 33 points were a season-high with the Nets, who ended with 28 assists to just nine turnovers...James finished with 13 points off the bench for the Bucks.
