NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at Charlotte

(Monday, January 17th)

Final Score: Milwaukee 99, Charlotte 92

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Michael Redd scored a game-high 27 points as the Milwaukee Bucks snapped a four-game losing streak with a 99-92 victory over the struggling Charlotte Bobcats at the Charlotte Coliseum.

After hitting just one of his first eight attempts, Redd finished 8-of-20 from the field and had 21 points in the second half for Milwaukee, which has still lost seven of its last 11 overall.

The All-Star guard has now scored in double-digits in 14 straight contests for the Bucks, who improved to 4-15 on the road this season.

With the game tied 70-70 after three quarters, Milwaukee opened the fourth on a 7-2 run with Redd netting five points during the spurt. After Charlotte cut the deficit to 91-87, Redd drilled a deep jumper as the Bucks went ahead by six points and held on for the victory.

Milwaukee outscored Charlotte 29-22 in the final frame to secure the win and Redd finished with 12 points in the final 12 minutes.

"I thought that again, we run into these teams that have go-to guys like (Michael) Redd," Charlotte coach Bernie Bickerstaff. "That's who they get the ball to, and we're still searching for that guy to get the ball to in that situation."

Desmond Mason added 16 points for Milwaukee, while Dan Gadzuric finished with 13 and 10 rebounds, including 10 points and eight boards in the first seven minutes of the game.

Charlotte, which has lost five consecutive games, was led by Emeka Okafor, who netted 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Brevin Knight chipped in 10 points and 10 assists for the Bobcats, who have dropped 11 of their last 12 overall. Jason Kapono, who came off the bench, added 12 points in the loss.

Gadzuric started the game with back-to-back tip-ins, then added another tip- in, a dunk and a layup to finish the first quarter with 10 points and eight boards, but it was the Bobcats who closed with a 7-0 burst and led 28-23 after 12 minutes.

The Bucks used a 9-2 run during the course of three minutes in the second quarter to cut the Charlotte lead to 38-36, but the Bobcats went into halftime with a 47-42 advantage.

"We started out slow during the first five minutes of the game, but after that we picked it up and played at a good tempo," said Bobcat Gerald Wallace, who had 13 points and 10 rebounds. "I think we're getting better as a team at setting the tempo for the game. I think now we just have to carry that tempo all the way through and finish out games."

The Bobcats led for much of the third quarter, but Milwaukee closed with a 10-4 run, with Redd netting a three-pointer, Keith Van Horn scoring five points and Zaza Pachulia dropping in a bucket, to even the contest at 70-70.
