NBA Game Summary - Houston at Denver

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Tracy McGrady scored 45 points and added 12 rebounds as the Houston Rockets used a huge fourth quarter to dispatch the Denver Nuggets, 116-98.

"I was just trying to impose my will on the game," said McGrady. "It was just two teams competing, both needing a win."

Yao Ming added 21 points for Houston, which ended a two-game skid and won for the fourth time in six games. Ten of Ming's points came in the fourth quarter.

Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Nuggets with 27 points. Kenyon Martin had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Denver, which has lost four straight.

The Rockets jumped out of the game strong in this one. A Ming jumper with 8:35 left in the first quarter put the Rockets up 18-4. Houston eventually led 32-15 in the frame, before taking a 35-23 lead into the second quarter.

"Once again we dug ourselves a hole," said Denver center Marcus Camby. "I don't know how, I don't know why."

The Rockets would lead by as many as 14 points in the second quarter, before the Nuggets sliced the deficit to 11, at 58-47, by halftime.

Denver had a strong third quarter. Anthony had nine during the stanza, in which the Nuggets were able to creep within 75-73 entering the final 12 minutes.

But the Rockets opened the fourth quarter on a 15-4 run to regain command. McGrady had seven points during the burst, and had 20 points in all in the fourth quarter. Houston outscored the Nuggets 41-25 in the decisive final stanza.

McGrady finished 15-of-26 shooting, including 5-of-9 from behind the arc. He added five assists and three steals for Houston, which shot 52 percent from the field, including a scorching 11-of-19 from three-point range.

Game Notes

Denver point guard Andre Miller left the game with an ankle injury...The Nuggets have lost four of their last five at home...The season series between these teams is tied at 1-1...Houston won for just the second time in eight road games.
